Lord, what would you have me do, Poem by Susan Keith October 8 ,2020

If you missed the Providence IV Zoom retreat, this was shared

For His Sakeā€¦

Not for mine

Not for yours

But for the sake of the one who commissioned us.

I am but one.

One of many

Part of a community

Part of the team.

But I am one.

The community is incomplete without me

I matter

Actually I am essential.

I cannot do everything.

I cannot sing

I cannot run

I do not have many talents.

But I can do something.

while I can't sing, I can write.

I can do magic on a computer.

I can make order out of multitudes of details.

What I can do, I ought to do.

My words should be "how can I help".

My thoughts should be " I wonder what I can do".

My response should be "May I offer my talents".

What I ought to do, by the grace of God

Is be present

Is to say " I am available. "

Is to step forward to take up the slack.

Lord, what will you have me do?

I will share my stories to encourage others.

I will take your hand in invitation.

I will cry with you and pray for you.

I will laugh with you and give thanks for God's blessings.
